Listen to Friday Night Scores all across West Texas

West Texas is Best Texas. Though technically we’re giving scores from the Panhandle, South Plains, Texhoma, Big Country, Permian Basin, Low Rolling Plains, and the Hill Country we call it West Texas. It’s every game and every score West of I-35 and North of I-10. Listen to the show every Friday Night on these radio stations…

The History

Now in our 29th season of covering Texas High School football, it all started in a small studio in Floydada, Texas as Tony St. James and his wife Pamela read scores from area games following the Whirlwind football broadcasts. Two years later, the scoreboard would add its first affiliate when Emil Macha from KZZN in Littlefield called for some scores and was placed on hold. During the break, he told Tony that he wanted to call every week and just be placed on hold so that he could carry the show. Just a few years later, the show would be syndicated to half a dozen stations across the Amarillo and Lubbock area including KKAM in Lubbock where the Program Director, Mark Finkner took a chance on the program. Steven Orr would join a few years later as the Director of Affiliate Relations and grew the show to 50 radio stations. Whether by chance, or as we like to think, Divine Intervention, Mark and Steven now host the program every Friday night during the fallon the state’s biggest high school scoreboard show (based on affiliates).
